Der Mittelrhein-Marathon 2011 fand bei windigem, aber sonnigem Wetter statt. Das Rennen der Speedskater hatte in diesem Jahr nur 38km Länge und wurde in Boppard in Richtung Hirzenach gestartet und von dort mit einer Wende zurück bis nach Koblenz geführt. Dieses Inline-Rennen findet nicht nur im herrlichen Rheintal mit seinen Burgen und Schiffen statt – nein, auch auf einem Asphalt der für Bestzeiten gemacht ist. Viele Skater konnten trotz des Windes wieder beachtliche Zeiten erringen. Wer das richtige Windschattenfahren beherrschte, war eindeutig im Vorteil. Das ist auf den Fotos leider viel zu selten zu sehen…
